A safe sealing system guarantees a sustainable and economically efficient production activity. This is particularly relevant in sectors such as gas production, chemicals or petrochemicals, as they are more susceptible to hardly perceptible leaks - also known as invisible leaks -.
These leaks represent a significant economic and environmental cost. At Epidor SRT, we have opened a new alliance that allows us to offer our customers the best
sealing solution to prevent these fugitive emissions: Revoseal gaskets.
Main characteristics of Revoseal's metal gaskets
The addition of the new Revoseal gaskets to our range of sealing solutions will make our customers more competitive.
refinery and chemical industry customers. In these, and also in other sectors that work with equipment subjected to pressures and high temperatures, the sealability of spiral wound flange gaskets or kammprofile is compromised when there are episodes of vibrations in the installations and even with the expansion and contraction of the lines themselves.
Well, Revoseal's innovative sealing concept represents a before and after in
maintenance and durability of sealing elements. The main innovation that distinguishes this solution is that the Revoseal gasket “offers a triple sealing system consisting of a corrugated surface to a greater or lesser degree containing a flexible element” that drastically reduces the possibility of the gasket being irreversibly deformed when the tightening torque is applied or losing its tightness with the vibrations typical of a plant in operation.

In the image, the navy blue color refers to the flexible element (graphite, PTFE or mica depending on temperatures). The light blue highlights the metal body of the gasket whose surface has a corrugated surface with higher peaks at the ends.
From right to left, the triple sealing system consists of the following:
- 1. Metal-to-metal contact of the innermost peak.
- 2. The second level of sealing is the flexible element that is compressed and confined between the end peaks.
- 3. Metal-to-metal contact of the outermost peak.
In the event of a leak, the working fluid must overcome the first metal-to-metal contact, get through a fully compressed filler material and finally bridge the second metal-to-metal contact.
The main features that have led us to include this high-end solution in our seals catalog are as follows:
- - The flexible element acts as a compression limiter and prevents deformation of the end peaks due to over-tightening.
- - The flexible element is confined between the end peaks and is therefore not exposed to the process fluid that can damage it. There is no transverse diffusion of the flexible element whether it is graphite, PTFE or mica.
- - The flexible element does not adhere to the flange face.
- - The corrugated profile provides sufficient elasticity to compensate for the relaxation of the fasteners without the need for subsequent retightening.
- - Revoseal JG/JP gasket has the lowest leakage rate in its class: 6.4-10-11 mbar-l/(m-s).-11 mbar-l/(m-s).
- - Patented design.
Revoseal seals are suitable for sealing steam, thermal oil and gases, among other fluids. The manufacturing program covers applications for temperatures up to 1,000 °C and pressures from vacuum up to 400 bar.
