75FKM 260466, new elastomer compound for motors and gearboxes

In today's article we present a special innovative solution in the field of elastomers, the material 75FKM 260466. It is a new fluorine rubber compound FKM, developed by our partner Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, whose special formulation extends the life expectancy of the seal very significantly. It is a much more resistant material compared to synthetic oils, especially polyglycols and biodegradable lubricants, which have a critical impact on seal life expectancy, raceway wear and axle marking.

Comparison of the new elastomer vs. other standard elastomers

This new formulation will enable our customers, in particular our motors and gearboxes manufacturers, reduce the total imputed costs over the life of the seal. This significant advantage is visualized in the following table, where all the imputed costs throughout the product life cycle are compiled. The data for the new composite 75FKM 260466 for elastomer we compared them with the standard compound 75FKM 585.

Advantages of the new elastomer compound

The already existing advantages of standard FKM (75FKM 585) over materials from other manufacturers have been further enhanced by the development of the 75FKM 260466, wear-resistant for synthetic oils. With the use of this new elastomer compound, our customers have differential elements that allow them to gain in competitiveness:

  • - Increased life expectancy by 80%
  • - Reduced wear of the friction track width by up to 70%
  • - Reduction of shaft marking to 90%.

Comparison of wear of the new elastomer vs. other elastomers

The following table shows a comparison of the friction track width wear between the standard FKM, the 75FKM 260466 and an FKM compound from a major competitor.

At present, is available from permanent stock in more than 200 different dimensions, for shafts from 15 to 120 mm.. In addition, approximately 60 references can be manufactured to order at short notice.
