Novaphit® 400 new graphite-based material

We would like to inform you about a new member of our family. Novaphit^®, the manufacturer's expanded graphite-based gasketing materials Frenzelit. The German manufacturer has developed Novaphit^® 400, a new high-purity expanded graphite with 1.4404 (AISI 316 L) stainless steel reinforcement.

The most important advantage is the ease of cutting, even in the case of difficult geometries such as those shown in the attached image, thanks to the efficiency and simplicity of its manufacturing process.

The combination of graphite with stainless steel inserts in sheet format becomes, over time, a more economical solution than graphite gaskets with perforated sheet metal reinforcement, or even without metal reinforcement.

Advantages of using Novaphit^® 400

With Novaphit^® 400 problems arising from the following are solved:

• - The sealing at temperatures up to 500 ºC.
• - The insensitivity to variations in compressive load.
• - The flange irregularities.
• - The easy handling in the assembly phase, compared to unreinforced graphite gaskets.
• - The cutting of complex geometries.
• - The material with practically zero creep.

Uses of Novaphit^® 400

Among others, the main sectors in which it is used are the following are the energy sector, the process industry, the chemical industry and the petrochemical industry. Particularly in applications such as, for example:

• - Gaskets for heat exchangers.
• - Valve engineering.
• - Steam pipelines.
• - Evaporation effects.
• - Process pumps.
• - Thermal oil pumps.
• - Combustion gases at low T.
• - Furnace industry.
• - Grinding, etc...

It can be supplied as a sheet of 1,000 x 1,000 mm, or 1,500 x 1,500 mm. And thicknesses of: 0.75 / 1.0 / 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 / 3.0 mm.
