On this occasion, we want to share with you a very different article than the one you are used to.
On May 21, Epidor Seals and Rubber Technology and the EPI INDUSTRIES Family of companies (Tormetal, Episer, Daneel Mechatronics, Lidering, Epidor Technical Distribution), we took part in the OXFAM Trailwalker.
The Trailwalker is a social and environmental sporting challenge that consists of running 100 or 50 km in 32 or 16 hours respectively, with the aim of fighting climate change.
This year, as a novelty, there was also the possibility of doing 10 km in 4 hours, a much lighter way to enjoy this experience.
The participating teams of the 100 and 50 km modalities, have committed to raise a minimum of 1500 € (500 euros in the 10 km modality) to contribute to a solidarity initiative.
The money raised at the Trailwalker will go to providing clean drinking water to thousands of families in Ethiopia which, unfortunately, are seeing the effects of climate change exacerbate the unfavorable water supply situation in one of Africa's poorest countries.

How did the participation in Trailwalker 2022 come about?
It all started in 2019 when in the Committee of Sustainability Corporate Group EPI INDUSTRIES Family of Companies has proposed to participate in the Trailwalker, as part of its firm commitment to the commitment to actions solidarity and sustainability.
The proposal was soon approved, but at that time the COVID-19 pandemic destroyed all our plans, delaying our desire to participate until this year 2022.
Once 2022 began, seeing that normality would not be long in coming and restrictions were beginning to loosen, we formed the team of the Trailwalker with those colleagues from across the group of companies who were willing to take on a truly challenging assignment.

Trailwalker 2022 fundraising initiatives.
In the months leading up to the Trailwalker, different fundraising initiatives were carried out to reach, at least, the minimum amount of 1500 €.
Apart from the initial impulse from the company, actions were developed that could involve anyone who wanted to contribute their bit to a cause of solidarity.
- • Donations via OXFAM portalOXFAM Intermón team made available to all participating teams a portal where anyone could make a donation. This portal was shared internally throughout the organization and on Epidor Seals and Rubber Technology's LinkedIn profile. Challenge participants also shared it on their personal profiles.
- • Sant Jordi InitiativeTaking advantage of one of the most original celebrations in Catalonia, we have been collecting books to sell them internally to raise funds.
- • Solidarity breakfast in Lliçà de VallBreakfast at our facilities in Lliçà de Vall where the contributions were destined to the Trailwalker.
- • Celler Herms wine for saleInternal sale of lots of wines from the winery located in the heart of Terra Alta, Celler Herms.
- • “La porra”The Trailwalker: A fundraising initiative between the organization in which the goal was to predict the time it would take our team to finish the Trailwalker.
Thanks to the fundraising initiatives and the solidarity of everyone (colleagues, customers, suppliers, etc.), we far exceeded the minimum amount of participation and were among the 10 teams with the highest contribution.
The Trailwalker 2022 solidarity challenge
They knew that the challenge was not going to be easy. For this reason, the runners had been training beforehand in some joint outings, in addition to running the Barcelona marathon.
Prepared, conscientious and above all with great enthusiasm, on May 21 they set off for Olot, the place where the Trailwalker was to begin.
From here began the odyssey that ended after 17 hours of experiences, emotions and feelings in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

Finally, our Trailwalker 2022 team was the first team to reach the finish line in a time of 17:01:36.
We are very proud to have participated in a charitable cause and to have done so with the competitive spirit that has propelled us to finish first.
