Epidor and the environment

Sustainability is a key element in Epidor's ethics and way of acting. The EPI Industries Family of Companies group, of which we are a part, is closely linked and committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicated by the United Nations (UN) in the 2030 Agenda. We have a clear mission and a common goal: to achieve a better future and make the Earth a more sustainable place for all people.

This roadmap, set out by the UN, has helped us to strengthen our sustainable development initiatives and has allowed us to incentivize the reduction of our carbon footprint in the supply chain. This demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and has led to a number of initiatives that have helped us to reduce our environmental impact:

Sustainable purchasing policy

Our sustainable purchasing policy covers all links in the supply and manufacturing chain. This practice focuses on selecting suppliers with whom to establish long-term relationships, thus ensuring sustainability in our production chain and reducing the impact generated by the transportation of materials.

In order to carry it out correctly, our team of buyers is trained on an ongoing basis. In this way, we ensure that we are up to date with new environmental issues or actions.

At Epidor, we consider it essential, in order to be part of our supply chain, to establish partnerships for the goals (SDG 17) with our suppliers, taking into account the fulfillment of both our Sustainable purchasing policy as well as the Code of Conduct. In this way, we ensure our social and environmental commitment.

Thanks to our sustainable purchasing policy, we ensure excellent and stable quality in each of our products, achieving high standards and increasing reliability for the consumer.

Products for a cleaner world

In our industry, one of the main problems we encounter when it comes to caring for the environment is fugitive emissions. These are gradual losses of product, which can be significantly harmful to the environment.

At Epidor we have worked to find solutions to this environmental problem by achieving high quality standards in our highly accurate sealing systems:

  • High performance flanges and gaskets designed to avoid any trace of fugitive emissions.
  • Quality, high integrity valves and pumps ensure safe containment of contaminating fluids.
  • Low-emissivity gaskets designed to minimize losses.
With these sealing solutions we reduce the risk of contaminant leakage, creating a clean and healthy environment.

Low friction seals

In some dynamic applications, O-rings must operate at pressures or speeds that are beyond the reasonable limit for this type of component. The result is premature wear that compromises O-ring life and/or effectiveness.
As a result of our corporate ethic, we have designed the 242 low friction seals: in their models for piston rod (JV 242) and for piston (JP 242). These are manufactured to replace an O-ring used for dynamic sealing without the need for any modification to the housing. Its low coefficient of friction minimizes wear, making it a seal with a longer service life, reducing unnecessary downtime and the need for part replacement.

Renewable energy manufacturing

Our commitment to a more sustainable industry begins in the manufacturing process. Our production center is equipped with solar panels that provide us with the energy needed to manufacture our products. This practice helps us to reduce our carbon footprint from the origin of each product, promoting a more environmentally responsible industry.

Carbon footprint

Some of our practices are focused entirely on reducing our carbon footprint; such as process optimization or the substitution of fossil energy consumption for renewable energies during the manufacturing process. We take care to carry out constant analysis and adjustments according to environmental regulations in order to carry out efficient practices throughout the production process.

Our commitment to sustainability has led us to champion the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve a more sustainable industry without a negative impact on planet Earth.
