Flat gaskets

Tightness for flanged joints

What is a flat gasket?

The flat gaskets are essential elements in the static sealing of flanged joints, such as those present in pipes, valves or industrial fittings. They are part of the so-called Sealing Triangle, together with flanges and hardware, preventing fluid leakage without relative movement between the surfaces to be sealed.

At Epidor, we offer a wide variety of materials and formats to adapt to every need, from full sheets to cut-to-length gaskets with high precision CNC machinery.

Supplied in sheet or cut gasket

We have top quality raw materials available from stock, and we have numerical control cutting technology for the manufacture of flat gaskets according to drawing or standard. This allows us to react quickly, Whether you need a customized joint or you are looking for complete plates for your own machining.

Types of flat gaskets by material

Compressed fiber flat gaskets

Manufactured from compressed fibers and binders, they are asbestos-free and are an economical and versatile solution for general applications. They offer good resistance to oils, water, fuels and moderate pressures.

PTFE flat gaskets

Available in virgin, expanded or restructured versions, PTFE has almost universal chemical resistance. Virgin PTFE is stiffer, expanded PTFE is highly conformable and restructured PTFE improves dimensional stability by reducing creep.

Graphite flat gaskets

Designed for high temperature and pressure services, made of high purity expanded graphite (> 99 %). They can include stainless steel inserts for improved mechanical strength and ease of handling.

Elastomeric flat gaskets

Flexible and economical solutions for low pressures and temperatures, including food grade and adhesive sponge options. We offer flat seals in NBR, EPDM, FPM and other elastomers according to fluid and temperature compatibility.

Flat gaskets for thermal insulation

Manufactured with specific technical materials for high temperatures or thermal insulation needs, ideal for furnaces, heat exchangers or severe industrial processes.

FAQ's about flat gaskets

What is the difference between a flat gasket and an O-ring?
The flat gasket is mainly used in flat joints such as flanges, while the O-ring is used for applications with circular grooves, generally with higher pressure.
What regulations should I follow to select a gasket?
It must match that of the flange: DIN, ASME, BS or JIS. Otherwise, the gasket may not fit properly.
Can I order a custom flat gasket?
Yes, at Epidor we manufacture flat gaskets according to drawings or specific indications, both in size and material.
