The Hallite E2W is a double-acting, O-ring energized rod cleaner/excluder designed to include two unique and distinct cleaning lip geometries. The two lips combine to scrape debris from the rod and contain residual oil in the rod extension, as well as allow oil to return to the cylinder. The O-ring energizer provides the force necessary to maintain the engagement of the wiper lips against the sliding surface and allow the wiper to adjust for deflection.
Generally made from proprietary Hallite Armorlene® materials, this seal is capable of high-speed applications and eliminates any possibility of slippage. High-performance Armorlene® materials, such as HLX, provide excellent wear and scuffing capability, as well as wide temperature range and media compatibility.
The Halite E2W works well in combination with rod seals that support the required dynamic pressure pumping, such as the Hallite R16 rod seal. When combined, they produce a sealing system capable of handling higher speeds, a wide range of fluid compatibilities and a range of service temperatures. For other rod seal arrangements with E2W, it is necessary to ensure that the rod seal provides adequate back pumping pressure or, alternatively, vents the system. Hallite recommends using a suitable guide with this seal in heavy duty applications (see Hallite Bearings section). This seal is available in a variety of Hallite's high performance Armorlene® and Hythane® materials to suit a wide range of demanding applications.
