Inventory optimization with the Kanban method

At Epidor we manage your company's inventory of sealing elements using the Kanban method. This system is based on a constant communication between the warehouse and the supplier for to ensure a customized logistics system. Our goal with this method: to ensure that stock never runs out and that replenishments are carried out within a short period of time.

Designed for companies that need a continuous supply of critical sealing components, before implementing the Kanban system to companies, we carry out a customized pre-study to adapt the inventory flow to the specific needs of each customer. This optimizes the process and reduces replenishment time, ensuring a continuous supply of critical components such as seals and gaskets.

Key elements of the Kanban method

  • Replenishment for duplicate trays: a drawer system is used in which the first drawer contains the main stock. Once this is emptied, the second tray is activated as a backup, while the replenishment of the stock is initiated. In this way, the inventory is not depleted at any time.
  • Drawer readers with colorimetry: we use a color-based tracking system (blue, green and yellow) to monitor the replenishment process. Each color indicates a different stock status, allowing for quick visualization of the inventory level and facilitating real-time decision making.
  • RFID tags: For automatic stock control, we implemented RFID tags that provide order accuracy and avoid communication errors. This automated system is integrated with our proprietary warehouse management software, allowing constant tracking and ensuring accuracy in the replenishment of materials.

Advantages of the Kanban methodology

  • Prevention of inventory breakage: the duplicate tray replenishment system keeps the essential material for your processes always available, without interruptions.
  • Replenishment in less than a week: we guarantee replenishment times of less than one week, with real-time updates thanks to our digitalized system.
  • Continuous supply of critical components: We ensure that critical components are replenished in an automated manner, reducing the possibility of production downtime.
  • Workflow optimization: The pre-study and customization of the Kanban system ensures that this inventory management system is tailored to the customer's specific requirements.
  • Reduction of communication errors: the use of RFID tags and colorimetric drawer readers minimizes manual errors and facilitates coordination between the warehouse and the production team.
