The secret of labyrinth seals is that they perform three functions simultaneously: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Hold the stator and rotor together.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Prevent lubricant leakage<\/strong> of the bearing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Preventing the entry of contaminants<\/strong> such as dust, splashes from washing or projections of accidental fluids. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rotor of the labyrinth seals has a <\/span><b>O-ring<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the dual purpose of making <\/span><b>sealing gasket<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the bearing lubricant and drive the rotor so that it turns in tight alignment with the shaft. On the other hand, the stator has one or two <\/span><b>O-rings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for attachment to the process equipment housing.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Materiales_de_las_juntas_de_laberinto\"><\/span>Labyrinth gasket materials<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>materials <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">available<\/span><b> for the<\/b> <b>labyrinth joints<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are <\/span><b>polytetrafluoroethylene<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PTFE) <strong>o Teflon\u00ae<\/strong> (with FDA O-rings), bronze, stainless steel, aluminum and other materials to withstand the most extreme conditions. Labyrinth seals <\/span><b>Teflon\u00ae Teflon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have been developed for effective protection of the bearing from ingress of splashing or splashing of corrosive liquids such as acids and bases or water. Labyrinth seals have the great advantage that they work dry, i.e. without lubrication. Consequently, the mixture of dust and grease that slowly erodes the seal lip is avoided. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sometimes the labyrinth seal bearing can be damaged by eddy current discharge, especially in electric motors. To combat this problem we have <\/span><b>labyrinth joints<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with conductive elements that divert these currents. These labyrinth joints allow: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Avoid discharge on the balls.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Prevent the formation of stretch marks<\/strong> in the bearing raceways.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Prevent lubricant leakage<\/strong> by acting as<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sealing gasket.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Prevent the entry of pollutants<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Montaje_de_las_juntas_de_laberinto\"><\/span>Assembly of labyrinth seals<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the installation or assembly of the labyrinth seals, no specialized tooling is required since <strong>are usually installed by hand<\/strong>.
