This is explained in another article published in our blog:\u00a0\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/epidor-srt.com\/blog\/algunas-soluciones-de-estanqueidad-en-valvulas\/\"><span style=\"color: red;\">\u201cSome sealing solutions in valves\u201d.<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O-rings are manufactured from elastic materials, also known as \u201celastomers\u201d. We even offer you a special formulation of <\/span><b>EPDM,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> capable of working up to 288 \u00baC with water vapor in an anaerobic environment, i.e. free of oxygen. In addition;\u00a0<\/span><b>shows resistance to atmospheric ozone, weathering, alkalis, acids, bases, polar solvents, ketones and ether-glycol-based brake fluids.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The elastomer limitation of <\/span><b>EPDM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is not suitable for sealing oils, greases, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, as they severely attack it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Elastomero_de_caucho_acrilo_nitrilo\"><\/span>Acrylonitrile-nitrile rubber elastomer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Presents\u00a0<\/span><b>good chemical resistance to hydrocarbons, mineral oils, mineral oil-based greases, animal and vegetable fats, water up to 100 \u00baC, inorganic acids and bases in low concentrations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In the presence of fuels with high aromatic content, the resistance of the NBR elastomer decreases and it is clearly attacked by ozone, weathering, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters, polar solvents, strong acids as well as ether-glycol based brake fluids. We have a special NBR for low temperature applications, capable of working down to -60 \u00baC.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Elastomero_de_caucho_de_silicona\"><\/span>Silicone rubber elastomer<b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They stand out for their <\/span><b>high thermal resistance and good cold flexibility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The use of silicone rubber elastomers is recommended. <strong>in high and low temperature applications.<\/strong> They show excellent resistance to oxygen and ozone. In addition, they have<\/span><b> good resistance to vegetable oils, high aniline index oils, engine and gear oils<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They have moderate resistance to swelling in mineral oils and greases, ether-glycol and water-based brake fluids up to 100 \u00baC and strong swelling in low molecular weight esters and ethers, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, concentrated acids and bases and steam. We have a special silicone capable of working down to -100 \u00baC.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Elastomero_de_caucho\"><\/span>Rubber elastomer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since it contains fluorine in its composition, it presents a <\/span><b style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">superior chemical resistance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, being <strong>Viton<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>\u00ae<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the best known of them. Fluoroelastomers are the most suitable rubbers for continuous service in a temperature range between 200 \u00baC and 250 \u00baC and are also flame retardant. The rubber elastomer\u00a0<\/span><b style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">recommended for contact with hydrocarbons, mineral oils and greases with additives, fuels and both aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, inorganic acids and bases even at high concentrations.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In peroxide cured formulations, <\/span><b style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">FPM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> improves its compatibility with traditionally incompatible fluids such as alcohols, hot water, steam and alcohol-containing fuels.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They have good<\/span><b style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"> resistance to ozone and aging<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, they suffer strong swelling with organophosphates (Pydraul 10E), ammonia, amines, steam, polar solvents (ketones, dioxane, ethyl acetate), as well as in flammable fluids (Skydrol) and brake fluids based on ether-glycol.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Perfluorelastomero\"><\/span>Perfluoroelastomer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are fully fluorinated polymers with elastomeric characteristics and <\/span><b>highly recommended for applications with aggressive chemicals and at high temperatures (up to 327 \u00baC).<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They have a <\/span><b>almost universal chemical resistance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, similar to that of the <\/span>PTFE<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Presentan <strong>e<\/strong><\/span><strong>igh-temperature thermal stability<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They have a <\/span><b>excellent steam, ozone and weather resistance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, they have poor physical properties and limited use in low temperature services.
