In the piston valve, when the valve opens, the piston moves back and rests on the corresponding seat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both in the ball valve and in the piston valve, in both cases,<\/span><b> the valve seat must guarantee the tightness of the valve and prevent wear due to metal-to-metal contact<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and for this purpose, seat geometries are usually concave for balls and more complex in shape for pistons.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Materiales_de_estanqueidad_para_asientos_de_valvula\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sealing materials for valve seats<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Valve seat material options available are: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">- Technical plastics <\/span><b>Virgin PTFE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>- PTFE with fillers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>- UHMW-PE<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>- PEEK<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>POM,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> although these are more common in parts subjected to high mechanical stresses such as bearings and guide rings, for example.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Para_servicios_a_baja_temperatura_de_criogenia\"><\/span><strong>For low temperature cryogenic services<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The alternatives are restricted to <\/span><b>PTFE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>PEEK<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y <\/span><b>UHMW-PE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. These last two engineering plastics have a compressive ultimate load and a breaking load significantly higher than that of the <\/span><b>PTFE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, however, the <\/span><b>PTFE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is softer and more elastic. In addition to the mechanical aspects, chemical compatibility with respect to the working medium must be taken into account when choosing one material or another. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Para_aplicaciones_no_criogenicas\"><\/span><strong>For non-cryogenic applications<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Up to a temperature close to 80 \u00baC for non-cryogenic applications, <\/span><b>the UHMW-PE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can be a good choice because of its high abrasion resistance and good chemical inertness. However, it is not recommended for use at temperatures above 80 \u00baC because it begins to soften.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technical plastic <\/span><b>PEEK<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has in its favor that it has good mechanical properties, good chemical resistance and a wide range of working temperatures.  On the downside, it should be noted that it is a very hard material with low elasticity. Both <\/span><b>PEEK<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> like <\/span><b>POM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is recommended when the service pressure is very high.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, the <\/span><b>Virgin PTFE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a very popular material for seat valves due to its very high chemical inertness and low friction coefficient.
