As is well known, three fundamental factors are involved in a flanged joint: the sealing gasket material itself, the hardware and the flanges. If the tightening torque of the bolts is insufficient, even if the flange faces are in perfect condition and the material is PTFE, the process fluid will leak through the flanged joint.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the flanged joint is opened, the first thing to inspect is the PTFE gasket, which will be in perfect condition if it has been used. Restructured PTFE <\/strong><\/span>Gylon<\/b>\u00ae<\/b>. If the flange faces have the proper surface finish and the bolts are new, the next point to evaluate is the tightness of the bolts. <\/span><\/p>\n

With the 3rd generation of Garlock's restructured PTFE, <\/strong><\/span>Gylon\u00ae EPIX<\/strong>,<\/strong> applying the same tightening torque, the risk of leakage is prevented. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
