This was supported by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/epidor.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Epidor Technical Distribution<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the manufacturer of flat gasket materials, <\/span><b>Garlock<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The standard <\/span><b>EN 1591 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has 4 sections:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Calculation of tightening torques (<\/span><b>EN 1591-1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Description of the parameters of a sealing ring (<\/span><b>EN 1591-2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Method of calculation of metal-to-metal contact type flange connections (<\/span><b>EN 1591-3<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And the last section refers to the training of personnel in charge of the assembly of bolted joints in pressurized critical service systems (<\/span><b>EN 1591-4<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The training took place at the group's production center in Reus, and was attended by important chemical companies from the Tarragona Chemical Pole. The seminar had a first theoretical part and a second part with practical exercises of assembly \/ disassembly of sealing gaskets in flanged joints. All attendees participated in the various works during the two hours of the practical session.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12218 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/epidor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/post-68-img-full.png\" width=\"1816\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Germany and Scandinavia, the norm is <\/span><b>EN 1591<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has the status of law, being mandatory. Its application has highlighted the enormous importance of proactive maintenance over reactive maintenance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The implementation of <\/span><b>EN 1591 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the process industry is done with a proactive maintenance model that provides greater reliability and efficiency of the installation, therefore, an increase in production and profitability of the plant.
