Due to the higher working speed or the higher pressure or both, it would be most appropriate to replace the O-ring with a low friction seal, but of course, the housing of a standardized low friction seals<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nuevas_juntas_de_baja_friccion\"><\/span>New low-friction seals<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The solution we propose from <strong>Epidor SRT<\/strong> is the new <strong>low friction seal 242<\/strong>, in its models for stem (<strong>JV 242<\/strong>) and for piston (<strong>JP 242<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These gaskets are designed to replace an O-ring used to make <a href=\"https:\/\/epidor-srt.com\/productos\/estanqueidad-para-equipos-rotativos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dynamic sealing<\/a> and without the need to make any modifications to your housing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Conceptually, the O-ring is replaced by a low friction seal whose energizing O-ring is of radial section (d2), one size smaller than the installed one.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since the original seal has a longer housing length than the low friction seal, it would be appropriate to add a ring that, in addition to supplementing the length, would also serve as a <a href=\"https:\/\/epidor-srt.com\/blog\/prueba-anillo-anti-extrusion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-extrusion ring<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The fusion in the same piece of the low friction ring and the anti-extrusion ring leads to the new seal. <strong>JV 242<\/strong> (for piston rod) and (for piston).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18059\" style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" width=\"811\" height=\"376\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The design parameters considered by the Epidor SRT Technical Department were as follows:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15.6px;\">The dimensions of the energized gaskets that match those of the O-ring housings according to AS-568 are taken as the housing standard.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15.6px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 15.6px;\">A low-friction seal of the next size down is adapted to each housing size, respecting the inner shape of this type of seal:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15.6px;\">Same entry and exit angles of the closing edge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15.6px;\">Same position of the vertex of the closing edge.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15.6px;\">Logically, the thickness of the low friction ring is modified to match the tightness of the O-ring to that of the standard low friction seal.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15.6px;\">In order to avoid extrusion problems, the O-ring support area has been given a curved shape, similar to that of an anti-extrusion ring.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped JP 242<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The new low-friction seals offer several advantages and benefits, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Replacement of O-rings or \u201cX-ring\u201d type seals in high speed dynamic sealing services, high pressure or both factors at the same time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintenance of the same housing, with no additional machining costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Limitaciones_de_las_juntas_de_baja_friccion_JV_242_y_JP_242\"><\/span>Limitations of low friction seals JV 242 and JP 242<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The following are the limitations of the new seals with respect to standard low-friction seals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The energizing O-ring has a smaller section, resulting in a slightly lower elasticity of the friction ring and O-ring assembly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The resulting friction ring cross-section is larger than that of the equivalent low-friction seal, which will make the sometimes already complicated assembly of a low-friction seal difficult.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Montaje_de_las_juntas_JV_242_y_JP_242\"><\/span>Assembly of JV 242 and JP 242 seals<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In relation to the assembly of JV 242 and JP 242 seals, if a PTFE formulation with fillers is chosen, the calibration can become more complex.
